December is recognized as an awareness month for multiple important causes, including Universal Human Rights Month and Learn a Foreign Language Month. However, December is mostly widely known for the several religious holidays that occur during the month. Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanzaa all take place during the final month of the year. This year, the US federal government will not commemorate World AIDS Day, which may result in demonstrations or protests.
